Ask the Experts: Heidi Swapp

by julia on June 25, 2008

In Ask the Experts in our August 2006 issue, we chatted with celebrity Heidi Swapp. Following are additional fun answers to questions we asked her. Enjoy getting to know this talented scrapbooker better!
Q. You knew you were a scrapbooker when . . .
A. For my son Cory’s first birthday party, I planned an egg hunt since the date was close to Easter. On the invitations, I suggested that people dress their kids in khaki and white. (Yep, I was trying to get coordinating pictures for my scrapbook page.) I can tell I was focused on the results—I spelled “khaki” wrong on the invitations!Q. What’s your favorite thing to do besides scrapbook?
A. Go window shopping. I love to look, although I don’t tend to spend a lot of money.

Q. What’s your favorite junk food?
A. Chips and salsa.

Q. What do you love to watch on TV?
A. The shows 24 and The Apprentice.

Q. With so many tasks to juggle, such as design, development, travel and teaching, how do you stay “grounded”?
A. I’ve learned that my happiness can’t be based on how well my work is going. Instead, I try to stay focused on my most important relationships. I do my best to keep the lines of communication open and be “real.” I encourage family members to be the same way. We’re all in this together!

Q. What music do you like to listen to?
A. It varies from year to year. Don’t laugh, but right now I like listening to my old Andy Gibb music!

Q. What’s your favorite restaurant?
A. My husband, Eric, and I eat out at a Thai restaurant once a week. It’s wonderful having someone serve me dinner for a change.

Q. How does it feel to have people be so jazzed about the items you’re producing for Advantus?
A. It’s really rewarding. Coming up with new items is a ton of hard work, but I love that they carry my name!

While Heidi’s a little “freestyle” on some of her organization, she knows where everything is should she hit a creative groove.
