I just love Daisy D paper and came across this blog. The writing is something I haven’t had the children do for such a long time need to put it on the list of things to do.
Don’t Forget To Include Handwriting
We’ve all read how we should incorporate some of our own handwriting into our journaling. It’s a personal touch and it’s always fun to look back at what our past generation’s handwriting looked like.
But, have you ever recorded your child’s handwriting in your scrapbooking? One day, I realized that I didn’t have any samples of handwriting from my kids in their scrapbooks. I have lots of their drawings, but no handwriting. How fun would it be 20 plus years from now to see what their handwriting looked like when they first started writing?
I decided I would do a layout with that specific theme…my daughter’s handwriting. I had been working and working with her trying to get her to write her name. After much practice, one day it just clicked.
She wrote her name.
“Kta”
Actually, it was supposed to be “Kat”, but I was thrilled anyway. After practicing some more, we finally got her to write it correctly.
I found the perfect rubon from Daisy D’s for her to write her name on. I rubbed it on a black piece of paper and took it to her with a slick writer. I had her write her name right on the rubon, reminding her that the “a” comes before the “t”.
She did it perfectly. It was a good thing, too, as I only had one of those rubons. ![]()
I displayed it proudly with a recent picture all on my favorite Daisy D’s collection, Chasing Butterflies.
